 "Omron has some issues" 2010-01-12
By Anne Greene (Arizona)
I have 2 of these pedometers. Or I should say I had two of them. The leashes are not good and they break, the little plastic clip is not well made and I've broken 2 of them in about a years use. I called Omron and they promised to send out two leashes. Never happened. And you can't buy them.

So one of my pedometers finally fell out of my pocket and is gone. And another phone call and I'm told that there is only a one year warranty on the pedometer and that they don't expect it to last more than a year, so it's lasted far beyond what they would have expected. I feel that something I pay this amount of money for should last longer than a year, but evidently I'm wrong. So they wouldn't send me out another leash, so I guess I might as well toss this last pedometer out and buy another one, and you can bet it won't be an Omron. I'm off to do some research.

 "Compatability Issues" 2010-01-09
By D. Stumpf (Evanston, IL United States)
I enjoyed the pedometer until I acquired a new laptop with Windows 7. The software no longer recognizes the pedometer or blood pressure device. I also discovered that the Access database used by the software is password protected and can only be accessed from the software. If direct access to the data is important, you'll have to process it via CSV files. After several tries over several months to get things working, I'm looking for an alternative device.

 "Windows 7 Question" 2010-01-07
By Valarie (Bristow, VA)
I actually purchased this pedometer over a year ago and never opened it, until now. I was upgrading from another Omron pedometer that I absolutely LOVE and I am sure I will love this one as well. Upon reading the label it states that is for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Well, I just started my brand new laptop that has Windows 7 on it and I was just wondering if anyone has installed the software on a Windows 7 PC and what their experience was.

Thanks in advance.

"Great product - bad battery" 2010-01-06
By Janis M. Mace (omaha, ne)
I started out with the basic HJ-112 model that didn't have the software and loved it so wanted to upgrad to this one. I found the computer software didn't allow any changes that I wanted to do but still liked how I could keep track on-line.

My only complaint is that the battery for this and the HJ-112 one is that they don't last as long as Omoron said they would. The HJ-112 did last almost 1 year but this one didn't last 6 months. When I replaced the batteries they still lasted only a few weeks.

Needless to say was very disappointed in it. I saw prior reviews, after I bought it that said the amount of time of batteries was about how long mine lasted, but someone had contacted Omron and was told that the pedometer stays on even when the screen is blank and that's why they don't last long.

I don't want to have to buy batteries at $4 a piece every month or so so I've stopped using this and the other one and bought their Hip one which is better because it's smaller & only has one button to push to get the info. I just write down my numbers on my own excel spreadsheet because you can't go back into the software program and add anything to it.

If you have money to change out the battery constantly then this is an excellent pedometer if not try their HIP one instead.

 "Completely inaccurate" 2010-01-11
By the raven (New York, NY United States)
I was using this casually and was happy with the features and apparent high quality. It showed my pressure a bit high, which is what I expected. Sometimes it would provide a wildly wrong reading. Then I took it to my doctor to compare to his "live" measurements. Well, the monitor was way off. Doctor was telling me 122/82 and the monitor was 130/95. We tried it several times and each time it was wildly different. So now I am very disappointed because I can't rely on it. What use is it? My advice: As soon as you get your monitor, take it to a doctor or nurse and confirm that it's accurate. If it's not, return it right away.

 "Accurate after a year" 2010-01-08
By rustyredcab (Chicago, IL)
This is accurate after a year of use. Memory function is great for reporting numbers to doctors. Only beef is that the cuff can be awkward to get on correctly by yourself.

 "OMRON HEM-780" 2010-01-07

5-STARS...

UPDATE: I found a place on the OMRON webpage to send a message. A Customer Service Representative responded within 24 hours. The Service Rep. asked me to explain what was happening on position "A" when I attempted to do a reading.

Once I responded with the info., the representative was able to explain to me what to do. My unit is now working 100%, and no extra charges to get it fixed!

I now give my Omron HEM-780 unit and the prompt help from Customer Service 5-STARS!

The OMRON HEM-780 unit I purchased from Amazon.com for myself & wife on December 4, 2009 is supposed to work for two persons to keep a record of their readings. This unit has not worked on position "A" from the start. Amazon.com states that I need to return the OMRON faulty product to the OMRON COMPANY, not back to Amazon.com.

The OMRON company wants me to pay postage when sending their faulty unit back to them, and then insert a check for return postage to me. Does not seem fair to have to pay more for a unit that needs fixing, (above the amount already paid to purchase the product)

 "So So" 2010-01-14
By L. Karnes (Oregon)
This was my first pedometer, I decided not to purchase a real cheap one so I went with a medium price range one. I've had somewhat of a difficult time setting up the features. I usually wear the pedometer clipped to my waist and it's always falling off, the clip is very weak and when I want to read how many steps I've taken throughout the day I have to take it off to read. Most of my clothes don't have pockets so maybe I should have purchased a different style.

 "Pretty darn good" 2010-01-14
By J. Rogers (San Diego)
I have had a couple of these over the years and this one is pretty darn good. It reads accurately on two axises and generally keeps a pretty good count of steps. My only real problem is that the internal clock occasionally gets messed up but generally its really quite good. Would buy again.

 "Everyone should have one!!" 2010-01-11
By P. E. Petesich (Harrisburg, PA USA)
This pedometer is amazing. I have trouble wearing a pedometer at the waist and am thrilled to be able to put it in my pocket and be able to keep track of the number of steps I accomplish in a given day. The Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer has been a tremendous boon to knowing how many steps I take in a given day. I feel that I should order several more and pass them out to friends who want to increase their exercise movement.

Thank you, PEP
